Your thoughts?

You know that I can't resist this! Do I get something for being the first associate editor of JakesWiki? Anyway, I am currently working with my students on a project involving ethical issues of the Human Genome Project. Much of the work is driven through Blackboard's discussion board and students within a group are able to collaborate through the digital drop box. The students are so at home with Blackboard now that they find creative ways to make sharing really simple. But as I look at this Wiki interface I think this would be an even better way to develop a group project. As it is currently constituted, my students can only edit their work one at a time outside of class. For instance, they have a group foundation question template where they record the results of their research. Some of this work needs to be done at home, so each kid sends themselves a copy of the template in the drop box. They add their work and send it back, but guess what...only their changes have been recorded. If the template was set up as a Wiki, then they could all edit asynchronously the same document! I want this for my class.

This system also has the following security selections: public read/registered write, public read/administrator write (Dave is current admin), Registered read/registered write, registered read/admin write, and admin read/admin write. so all permutations are available and could be applied to an instructional setting. By the way, I new you couldn't resist. This technology pushes the envelope, but so what.
