15 Minutes

What simple activities or readings could advance a teacher's understanding of education (technology included) given that the teacher has 15 minutes of time a week for personal professional development?  To contribute, click on the Edit button in the right menu bar under the Page item.

1.  Read 7 Things You Should Know About Blogs

2.  Read 2 blog entries to get a feel how blogs are written, and how communication can take place via blogs.  Read 2 Cents Worth from David Warlick, Weglogg-ed from Will Richardson, or Moving at the Speed of Creativity by Wes Fryer.

3.  Spend 15 minutes watching LiveMarks, the live del.icio.us feed.  In that 15 minutes, pick out 3 posts that you are interested in, and use other 15 minutes sessions to explore them.

4.  Read 7 Things You Should Know About Social Bookmarking.

5.  Go to Wikipedia.org.  Read several articles.  Determine how those articles were produced.

6.  Start storing your favorite Web sites on del.icio.us.  Get a del.icio.us account-use this tutorial to get started.

7.  Learn how to build an online activity at myprojectpages.

8.  Learn how to write an essential question.

9.  Read how you can rethink your assessment of students.

10.  Attend emerging technology presentation.

11.  Visit examples of student blogs and enter comments on their writing. David Warlick's Classblogmeister.com is a good place to begin (although it may take a bit more than 15-min to find a class that is actively blogging).
