Day 3 Evaluation

What is the single biggest "thing" you have learned so far in this workshop?  AND...for tomorrow, what is the one thing you still need/want to know about?

COMMENTS

I am excited about the resources you provided for us to examine and explore.  I also appreciate the authentic encouragement you each give when you comment.  Telling the theme without stating it is more evident now.  Using the voiceover in conversational style should help us to back away from "reading a script".  The storyboards get right to step-by-step.

I like the idea of developing a kit for students to use.  Saving time will be important.

Concerns..........who will weed my garden?  I could easily get lost and forget about it.

Thanks to all who responded...

We are confident that you will finish, and finish with a product that you will be very proud of.  One theme that runs through your comments is a concern about how to structure this experience for kids, especially the first time.  We'll discuss that on Thursday, but for now, it is important that you start small and get a handle on the software and the process, and how both work with respect to your curriculum and what your job responsility is.  In any case, it will be important to support each other, and we will certainly be available to assist via email and wiki discussion.

We're excited about what you are producing, and we are looking forward to a very successful conclusion to the workshop.

I've learned more than I thought I would in such a short time. My experience with pinnacle was limited to a few not so successful trials. Working through the difficult spots has helped. The process of digital storytelling is clear in my mind now. I'm still interested in searching for appropriate music and images.

from MELISSA [209.175.207.72] on 2005-06-15

I have really grasped the fact that there are numerous images can hold the same meaning.  When typing in key words for search, it was amazing the different images that appeared that never entered my mind to use.

I have learned many things these past three days.  I feel that I have  a good handle on making a digital storyboard.  Is there any good advice on what to do first (order) images, music, voice. Or if I was to give an assignment in class how many prompts would you lay out on the table to let them work from? One or more?

from LYNNETTE [209.175.207.72] on 2005-06-15

Technology knowledge is the biggest thing I learned.  During today's session, I realized the importance of words.  Searching for images is more a task of finding the right search words.

I really hope I will be able to finish this project tomorrow, but I have my doubts if I will be able to successfully complete it.

I would suggest formatting the black notebook on line, so we could refer to it and add notes as we work during this workshop.  Then when trying to utilize this during the coming school year, we could simply pull up my notes instead of digging through book shelves to find the right black notebook.

Today was great!  The day just flew by.  I'm still uncomfortable with the software and continue to make silly mistakes which is causing me to redo things over again.  It's so time consuming that I'm afraid I won't finish tomorrow. I still need to download my music, place my pictures, voice, and music together, and add transitions. I really want to have a finished product by tomorrow.  Will it happen?

from ERIC [209.175.207.72] on 2005-06-15

good training on the software without talking down to us. Everything was very much at our ability level.

Good

The single biggest "thing" that I've learned is to not limit yourself.  Don't use one source for information, but also don't limit yourself.

I'm not sure what I want or need to know, but I have learned something every day.
